Streetwear has become a huge trend over the last couple years. From trainers (sneakers) to hoodies, everyone wants to look cool and fashionable. During the early stages of Falouse when they were still in their infancy, they had to ask themselves two very important questions, where do we start and what do we know about the market.
The term streetwear refers to clothing worn by urban youth. This style is characterised by its casual nature, low price point, and often controversial designs.
Streetwear is a growing fashion trend. In fact, it’s estimated that the global streetwear market was worth £1.5 billion in 2016 in the UK alone. There are now hundreds of brands selling streetwear apparel.

Streetwear has become a huge trend over the last decade. From sneakers to tees, streetwear has taken over the fashion scene. What makes streetwear so special?
Streetwear is a subculture that originated from hip hop culture. The term was coined in the 1980s by popular fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. This new style of clothing had a stigma attached to it and drew criticism from all quarters of the fashion industry, however, it has evolved since then and embraced the tag “streetwear”.

The streetwear movement began to gain traction in the early 2000s when designers such as Supreme, Stüssy, and Palace teamed up with brands like Nike, Adidas, and Puma. Today, streetwear is no longer limited to sneakers and T-shirts. Streetwear is now a global phenomenon. Brands like Supreme, Trapstar, Adidas Originals, and Nike are some of the biggest names in the industry. These brands are known for their unique designs and high quality materials. Streetwear has become a huge trend over the last couple of years. What started out as a simple way to dress up casual outfits has now evolved into a full fashion statement.
Today, streetwear is not only worn by men, but also women and even children. From headbands to hats, bags to shoes, there are endless ways to wear streetwear and it keeps on evolving. This genre of fashion has forced its way to the catwalks of Paris, London and New York. Falouse is here to stay and leave a lasting legacy in this increasingly popular and rapidly growing market.
